The Slate Island Provincial Park is located 8 miles from Terrace Bay Beach. It is an un-managed group of more than 20 islands owned by the MNR. The islands were created hundreds of millions of years ago by an ancient meteor impact, which formed a crater 32 km wide.

Many people come to the Slate Islands each year. Some of its best features are the Shatter cones that were created by the meteor, its population of caribou, the lighthouse, the crystal clear water, and amazing fishing, to name a few. There is so much to explore out at the Slates!
